Spelling

Clear Ink SpellWeb - http://www.spellweb.com/
SpellWeb is an evolving experiment in "sidesifting" the Web for useful patterns of information. While it can be useful, it is also for fun and the results are not guaranteed. If you enter two misspellings of a word, it will show you which one is more popular, though neither one is right. SpellWeb can also be used to judge relative popularity based on occurrence on the Web. Which is more popular: dogs or cats? In the singular, there are more occurrences of "cat", than "dog" but "dogs" outnumbers "cats". Try "Partridge Family" vs. "Brady Bunch", "Dick York" vs. "Dick Sargent" or "Steven" vs. "Stephen".

Theater of Electricity - http://www.mos.org/sln/toe/toe.html
The Museum of Science is home to the world's largest air-insulated Van de Graaff generator. The generator was generously donated to the Museum by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. As newer methods of atomic acceleration became available, the machine was used for instructional purposes only. Finally, it was donated to the Museum, where it now stands on public display in the center of the Thomson Theatre of Electricity and is demonstrated daily.

Learning about Renewable Energy - http://www.eere.energy.gov/kids/learning_renewable.html
Can you imagine life without television, cars, or computers? What if you had to cook your dinner over a fire or fetch water from a river? It might be fun for a camping trip, but you probably would not want to do it every day. But that's how life was before scientists and inventors discovered ways to use energy to make our lives easier

Learning About Saving Energy - http://www.eere.energy.gov/kids/learning_saving.html
Energy is the ability to do work. It can come in the forms of heat and light. There are two types of energy: working energy and stored energy. Stored energy becomes working energy when we use it.

Radioactive Waste - http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/basic-ref/students/waste.html
Nuclear power plants generate two types of waste: High-level and Low-level.High level waste consists of spent - or used - nuclear fuel. This type of fuel is highly radioactive because it contains the fission byproducts that were created while the reactor was operating. Low-level waste can come from nuclear reactors or other users of radioactive material, like hospitals or research institutes.

Theater of Electricity - http://www.mos.org/sln/toe/toe.html
The Museum of Science is home to the world's largest air-insulated Van de Graaff generator. The generator was generously donated to the Museum by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Designed and built by Dr. Robert J. Van de Graaff, who was a professor at MIT, this generator was originally used as a research tool in early atom-smashing and high energy X-ray experiments. As newer methods of atomic acceleration became available, the machine was used for instructional purposes only. Finally, it was donated to the Museum, where it now stands on public display in the center of the Thomson Theatre of Electricity and is demonstrated daily.

U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission - http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/basic-ref/students.html#nuclear_energy
Nuclear energy is a way to generate heat using the fission process of atoms. A nuclear power plant converts the heat into electricity. The main difference between a nuclear power plant and other kinds of power plants (coal, oil, gas) is that at a nuclear power plant, the heat used to make the steam is produced by fissioning atoms.

Windmills - http://www.windmillworld.com/
Since the seventh century, man has built windmills to grind flour and pump water. As steam power developed, however, it became less and less economical to rely on the fickle wind. Today we are left with a "tiny fraction of the elegant structures that once extracted power from the wind. These remaining windmills, scattered throughout the world, are a historic, and certainly very photogenic, reminder of a past technological age." Although this site focuses primarily on the windmills of England, it includes extensive links to windmills around the world.

Nearly 4 thousand million years passed after the Earth's inception before the first animals left their traces. This stretch of time is called the Precambrian. During the Precambrian, the most important events in biological history took place.

The Precambrian is not well known or completely understood. Why? Rocks are poorly exposed; Many rocks have been eroded or metamorphosed; Most are deeply buried beneath younger rocks; Fossils seldom found. Most information is from cratons - large portions of continents which have not been deformed since Precambrian or Early Paleozoic time.

The Wizard's Lab : Magnetism - http://library.thinkquest.org/11924/emagnet.html
Every natural magnet has both a North pole and South pole - a lot like the Earth. A characteristic property of the area around the magnet where it has a magnetic force (magnetic field) is that the magnetic field, or field lines travel from North to South - much like electric current flows from negative to positive. Another characteristic of magnets is that when two magnets attract, the magnets only attract when the North pole of one magnet is beside the South pole of another magnet, or vice-versa.
